How to use this checklist
Go through each item honestly. Score one point for each thing you can confirm is in place and working. Don't give yourself half points — either it's done properly or it isn't. At the end, we'll tell you what your score means and what to prioritise first.
Section 1: Google Ads (7 points)
If you're running Google Ads, these are the foundations. If any of these are missing, you're paying more per lead than you need to.
Section 2: Website & Landing Pages (6 points)
Your website is where leads are won or lost. It doesn't need to be fancy — it needs to be fast, trustworthy, and built to convert.
Section 3: Google Business Profile (5 points)
Your Google Business Profile drives a significant share of locksmith leads — sometimes more than Ads. Neglecting it is leaving free leads on the table.
Section 4: SEO (5 points)
Organic search is a long game, but these foundations determine whether you're even in the race.
Section 5: Tracking & Reporting (4 points)
If you can't measure it, you can't improve it. These four items determine whether your marketing decisions are based on data or gut feel.
What your score means
Add up your points out of 27 and see where you land:
- 22-27: Strong foundation. You're ahead of most locksmith businesses. Time to optimise and scale what's working.
- 15-21: Decent but leaky. The core pieces are there but gaps are costing you leads and budget. Focus on the sections where you scored lowest.
- 8-14: Significant gaps. You're likely overspending on ads and underperforming on conversions. A structured fix will have immediate impact.
- 0-7: Rebuild territory. Your marketing is probably costing more than it's returning. The good news: the upside from fixing these fundamentals is massive.
Most locksmith businesses we audit score between 9 and 14. Not because they're doing a bad job — but because nobody's shown them what 'good' actually looks like in this industry. The gap between average and excellent isn't talent. It's a checklist.
